David Redman is CEO and one of the founders of the Instinct Entertainment media group and brings a unique combination of skills and experiences gained from working in the US, UK and Australian media and telecommunications industries with over 20 years of practical experience in fund raising and corporate and project management for various media businesses and projects. He has worked with a range of companies including Paramount, Universal, Village Roadshow, Channel Nine, Macquarie Investments, Island Records, Recorded Pictures, Hoyts, Virgin Interactive, and Adlabs.
His feature film producer credits at Instinct include the Paramount distributed comedy Charlie & Boots, Salute and Till Human Voices Wake Us and the highest grossing Australian movie of 2004, the comedy Strange Bedfellows which was distributed by Universal in the US and which Instinct is currently developing as a stage musical. He was also the line producer and post production supervisor on these films.
David also line produced the Adlabs distributed Bollywood hit comedy, Singh is Kinng, produced the Village Roadshow distributed comedy Take Away and the Hoyts/Nine distributed comedy You and Your Stupid Mate. He has also produced television for Channel Nine.
Prior to establishing Instinct Entertainments David worked as Associate Producer on three co-productions. These were Before The Rain, a UK, French, Macedonian Co-Production which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1994 and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1995, The Young Poisoner’s Handbook, a UK, German Co-Production awarded the Critics’ Prize at the Edinburgh Film Festival, and Sweet Angel Mine, a UK, Canadian Co-Production.
Before moving into production David was Managing Director of Recorded Releasing, a UK based distribution, exhibition and sales company owned by Jeremy Thomas (producer The Last Emperor) and Chris Blackwell (founder of Island Records)
David is currently producing a comedy romance called Spin Out that Sony Pictures are release worldwide in 2016 and recently produced an anti-super hero thriller called The Subjects that is exploring innovative distribution models. On both films he was also the line producer and post production supervisor and he was also the 1st Assistant Director on The Subjects
He is a Feature Film Councillor on the council of the Screen Producers Australia and is working on a slate of feature film projects with a focus on co-productions. In 2014 he produced the Open Chanel conference on Online Video in conjunction with YouTube / Google, various Broadcasters, Multi Channel Networks and new and established creators.
